An affordable program for our kids! We don’t have to leave work early anymore and when we pick them up, their homework is finished and they’ve even exercised! Our kids are performing better in school and we feel that learning martial arts has given them more confidence. They are definitely ready for bed on the nights they go to the centre.”

After having spent the last 3 months training at the MAT centre, my 9 year old son has been exhibiting remarkable results. Not only have I noticed an increase in his sense of responsibility around the house but he carries himself with more confidence. Head instructor Jack Bateman has done a remarkable job in using the martial arts to teach everyday lessons. Bjj classes have made such a strong appeal to my son through the friends he meets in class and the fun he has training that I can’t ever see him stopping.
My 12 year old daughter had enrolled in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes about 5 months ago. Her initial desire to join was to deal with bullying at school. Training at the Martial Arts Training Centre has given her a major boost in her self-esteem. Having the knowledge to neutralize any altercation she may get into has made her so much stronger. She loves how fun the classes are and has already developed an understanding of how and when to use her techniques.”

Keeping kids active over the winter is difficult, especially if you have children who are not interested in hockey or basketball! My 13 year old son and 10 year old daughter needed a physical challenge and Jack Bateman’s Martial Arts Training Centre was just what we were looking for! Jack’s warm, patient and enthusiastic personality is the perfect fit for any child starting a new sport. Jui Jitsu has provided Josh and Jessica with stamina, flexibility, persistence and discipline. It is great training for their rugby season and will most definitely improve your child’s overall fitness. Jack makes each session fun for the kids with a little indoor soccer and wall climbing sprinkled in here and there.
Thanks for a great program, Jack!”

As a long time student of Martial Arts who moves around a lot I’ve been exposed to all sorts of schools and coaching styles. Having said that, I’ve never met a coach with the modesty and down to earth nature that Jack exudes. On my first day he spent time explaining his philosophies about Mixed Martial Arts, his thoughts on different teaching styles and his enthusiasm towards the sport. Never have I met a coach so willing to teach his students everything he knows, yet humble enough to learn from others who have had different experiences. As a Taekwondo black belt and a student of Muay Thai, I found a coach who was able to take my stand up game to another level by showing me that a true MMA student takes the best of what he knows and makes it his own. As a student of Jiu Jitsu, Jack was able to improve my game by leaps and bounds over the 4 months I have known him. I can not say enough about Jack as a person, but I will say that not only is he a brilliant Jiu Jitsu coach and a family man, he inherently inspires a level of comfort and camaraderie I have rarely seen before in a MMA gym. The gym itself is brand new and has some amazing assets such as a big screen projector used to playback techniques so students can watch them in slow motion, with plans to expand later this year The students at the gym are all amazing training partners, and great people to boot. I would recommend The Martial Arts Training Centre to everyone, whether you just started or are more advanced, or simply want to get into better shape, TMATC is the right place to be.”
